I disabled the “allow full access” in the settings and downloaded the GIF keyboard app. Just updated to 15.2 and have the same problem. This will make fix the emoticons button crash but you won’t be able to access GIFs. – Go to Settings -> Keyboard -> Keyboards -> Gboard -> Turn off Allow full access There is a workaround to fix the emoji button crash in iOS. Rest assured, we will be keeping a keen eye on the issue and update this article when the issue is fixed so make sure you stay tuned.Ġ9:34 am (IST): A product expert on the Google community forum acknowledged this issue and said that it is referred to Google team for further investigation.Ġ4:35 pm (IST): While the issue is yet to be fixed officially, some of those affected users have provided temporary workarounds to try and here are those. We hope Google acknowledges the Gboard issue where users are unable to use the emoji button and GIF and stick search and update the app so users can enjoy it again. While the Gboard crashes are not consistent, they are really frustrating and bother those affected since a majority of users use emojis every day.Īnother thing to notice is that pressing the sticker buttons does open the page, but if you try to search for any sticker or GIF, the app crashes back to the home screen. There has to be someone on the GBoard team who uses it on their iPhone and has noticed this issue. As for reporting to Google, I left a review describing the issue in the App Store… not sure if that’s helpful or not. I’ve rebooted and reinstalled… nothing works. Gboard for iOS hasn’t been updated in a year, so who knows when/if it’ll be fixed. Same after reboot and no pending updates. Upgraded today… gboard in any app… press emoji… flashes but back to keyboard… press again… switches to ios keyboard. You can see how Gboard crashes when searching for GIFs in the video below. One thing to note here is that Gboard was last updated in December of 2020 for iOS devices, which is absurd coming from a software company like Google. Moreover, the crashes do not seem to be limited to any particular app. Users say that Gboard started crashes after the recent iOS 15.2 update. Many say that even the GIF and sticker search feature isn’t working either. That being said, recent reports from Gboard users suggest that the app is crashing whenever they use the emoji button. Unsurprisingly, the developer frequently updates the app to fix existing issues but sometimes these updates make the app unusable. Over the years, Google added several new functionalities to Gboard such as GIF search and suggestions, multilingual language support, and even a predictive typing engine to stay on top of the competition. Available on both iOS and Android devices, it features the ability to use Google Search and allows users to easily share GIFs and emotes. My Father-in-Law still has a working C64 in his basement that has been modified slightly to run packet relay traffic over shortwave – I love to get on it and bang around still (40 column CRT display and all). I could lay down a few hundred lines of basic and have that little computer doing all sorts of magic tricks! My love came from the following:ġ) my C64, cartridges, and joysticks all fit in my backpack and could go to a friends house so that I could play games with them.Ģ) I knew basic before I was in third grade and was working on mastering LOGO and Simon’s Basic before my grade school tech teacher even knew what the acronym meant – I was the smartest kid in grade school and had no regrets that I wasn’t invited to swap baseball cards with the cool kids.ģ) This was before any Google, Gopher, or any other search engines – I had to LEARN everything that I typed in. OK, so the C64 was my first love – I had my first one when I was 6 and have never loved or learned a computer better than my C64. And most users today are in that group: the C64 is the hobby. This started to change on the C64, the first computing platform to have so many applications. Ratger, you bought that computer AS your hobby. It’s not always obvious if you weren’t around in computing in the 8-bit days, but for much of that era, you didn’t buy a computer to, say, do your taxes or edit photos or support some other hobby. There are guys out there who know every peek and poke, who read 6502 machine language in hex, and really aren’t looking for more than that.
